Chris Daughtry wowed the world with his amazing vocal performances during the fifth season of American Idol.  The strength of his voice and his charismatic nature took him all the way to fourth place in the competition.  Critics still wonder how it was that Taylor Hicks managed to pull off the win that season and many believe that Chris Daughtry was truly the winner that year.  Perhaps the critics are correct – it is impossible to ignore the fact that Chris Daughtry has found a great deal more success now that his stint on American Idol is over than the winner of the competition and the runner up, Katharine McPhee.  Together with Daughtry band members Joey Barnes, Josh Paul, Josh Steely, ad Brian Craddock, Chris is finding incredible success.  His premier album, Daughtry, has become one of the fastest selling debut rock albums, reaching number one on the Billboard charts only nine weeks after its debut.

This comes as no surprise – each of the twelve tracks featured in the Daughtry debut album are proof that this band is here to stay.  Chris Daughtry’s rich vocals, backed up by terrific guitar riffs and drum beats supplied by his band, are the perfect ingredients needed to lift a rock band to the top.  The first track of the album, It’s Not Over, is finding great success on American radio stations nationwide.  Quite a few of the songs on the album have been used on various television shows – There and Back Again was used to promote an agility competition on Animal Planet and was featured on an episode of Smallville, It’s Not Over was featured on Prison Break, Feels Like Tonight was used in the WWE’s Tribute to the Troops episode, and Home was used as the vote-off song during this season’s American Idol

It’s not just the vocals and the music that make Daughtry such a terrific album.  The lyrics throughout the album tell a story.  While most of the songs discuss love on all ends of the scale (loves found, loves lost, loves struggling to survive), there are some songs that talk about other aspects of life, such as the will to overcome overwhelming obstacles, holding on to convictions and staying strong through adversity.  These are the messages sprinkled throughout the album.  When you add heartfelt vocals and pumping music to already powerful messages, the result is an album that skyrockets to the top of the charts.  Thus, it’s no wonder Daughtry is becoming one of the most popular bands of the century.  Don’t take my word for it – go out and buy the album.  You won’t be disappointed!
